ONE OF THE BIGGEST CLAY DAMS IN VAZHANI

Vazhani, one of the biggest clay dams in Kerala with a length of 792.48 metres, is situated 23 km from Thrissur. This water is used mainly for irrigation and drinking purposes. This project in Thrissur district envisages construction of an earth dam built across the Vadakkancherry puzha, The project was completed during the year 1962. Vazhani dam and its garden is a splendid spectacular view. It is one of the tourist attraction of Thrissur district.

Vazhani Dam is a clay dam built across the Wadakkancherry river in Thrissur district. Constructed in the year 1962, Vazhani dam is about 16 Kms from Thrissur and is situated on the other side of Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary.

Though the dam is not big, the view from the dam is spectacular, the reservoir, the mountains, and the forest can also be seen from the dam top. A reasonably good garden is also maintained near the dam. The garden is a great place to spend some time irrespective of age.There’s a food court located within the premises of Vazhani Dam. They serve snacks, tea/coffee, ice cream, juice etc to fellow visitors.
